Hi everyone! I am an environmental studies major with a concentration in ecology and environmental biology. I have been working with the SEC for two years now and I just love to see students come together and truly care about the environment and our community.

Co-Director

Angie Herbert- she/they | aherber1@unca.edu

I’m a senior and an environmental science – geoscience major. I started working for the SEC gardens in spring of 2023 and became co-director in spring of 2024. My goal as co-director this year is to encourage student-faculty engagement in sustainability efforts across campus. Please contact us if you or your organization are interested in planning an environmental event with us!

Eco-Rep

Isabella Bascom- she/her | Ibascom@unca.edu

I am a first year student who plans to major in Environmental Studies and I love plants as well as helping out the environment in any way I can!

Garden Manager

Cole Bruner- they/them | cbruner@unca.edu

I’m Cole, a 3rd year student at UNC Asheville majoring in environmental studies. I have always found plants incredibly interesting and enjoy being able to see them grow. I also like learning ways to garden and farm more sustainably and so that is one of my goals while I’m at the SEC.

Garden Manager

Olivia Williams- she/her | owillia1@unca.edu

My name is Olivia, I’m a 2nd year student at UNCA, and I’m majoring in Environmental Studies. I have a love for plants and nature, and I started working at the SEC in Fall of 2023. My favorite part about working as a gardener is learning more about the way that plants grow and experimenting with new projects!

Gardener

Camryn Turner- she/her | cturner7@unca.edu

Cam is a freshmen gardener with the SEC! Her major is Environmental Science with a focus in Ecology. She enjoys hiking, reading, collecting records, thrifting, and plants.
