I joined the SEC because I really love plants and nature, and I am passionate about environmental conservation. I was previously a Gardener at the SEC for about 1.5 years, and I am very excited to now be a Co-Director. I’m looking forward to a great semester!

I joined the SEC because I find myself deeply influenced by environmental issues with sustainability, justice, and preservation. I also just wanted to be outside and see cool plants and critters. I started as a gardener in the fall of 2023, and currently am Co-director. I found that the SEC is a great organization for getting more students involved in environmental matters, or just getting to touch grass. All in all I’ve enjoyed my time hear, and hope to help other students understand the importance and depth of environmental matters on a larger scale.

I’ve worked as an Eco-rep for a couple semesters and think the SEC is a good opportunity to get involved in the sustainability scene on campus and promote the awesome resources we have! Now I really love to host the free store pop-ups and learn more each day about being mindful within our environment.

Joining the SEC has allowed me to apply my passion for learning about the environment, gain hands-on experience in sustainable gardening, and collaborate with others to make a positive impact on campus. I enjoy plants and nature and my favorite part about working in the gardens is learning new things and experimenting!

I was in a class here at UNCA that went into one of the gardens to volunteer at a workday. That was when I first learned about our campus gardens. I saw a job opening for the current semester, I was very interested due to my love of the outdoors. I love being active and in nature, and gardening is a wonderful outlet for that.
